Airport Transportation
Taxi stands are located just outside the Vancouver Airport (YVR) exit doors in both the domestic and international terminal buildings. Watch for the green signs indicating taxi pick up location.
The average taxi cost from the airport to downtown Vancouver is about $25 to $30. Travel time is approximately 30 minutes. If you arrive at YVR between the rush-hour times of 7AM to 9AM or between 3PM to 6PM, the rate and travel times will be slightly higher (45 minutes, and approx $30 to $40).
The Canada Line Skytrain (public transit) departs every 12 minutes from the airport to downtown Vancouver. The current fare is $4-9 CAD per person and will take you to Vancouver City Centre Station, a few short blocks from the hotel. Depart the 'Georgia Street Exit' and head 2 blocks West. Whistler
Whistler, North America's #1 ski resort and co-host of the 2010 Winter Olympics, is a scenic 90-minute drive from Vancouver along the stunning Sea to Sky Highway. Along the way, there are excellent photo and hiking opportunities, including spectacular Shannon Falls and the stunning Squamish Chief rock face.
Once in Whistler, stroll through the European-style ski resort village with its cobblestone streets, enjoy a wide selection of restaurants and outdoor cafés, or take in year-round special events and street performers. Winter recreational activities include world famous skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and snowshoeing on Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains.
Victoria & Vancouver Island
Victoria, British Columbia’s capital city, is accessible from Vancouver by passenger/vehicle ferry, floatplane or helicopter. Spot Orca whales and sea lions en route as the ferry makes its way through the scenic Gulf Islands. In Victoria, experience the old English charm with a double-decker bus ride or traditional afternoon tea at The Fairmont Empress hotel. Other attractions include the Parliament Buildings and Butchart Gardens.
Just north of Victoria, there are wineries in Cowichan Valley, native totems in Duncan and art galleries in Chemainus. Continue to the West Coast of the island to Long Beach and the quaint fishing villages of Tofino and Ucluelet.
